Jean Baptiste Piquette papers, 1763-1847.

Beginning about 1820, many papers concern the affairs of Duncan Reid, whose widow seems to have married into the Piquette family. From 1830 on, numerous governmental documents are found, including petitions to the legislature concerning banks, railroads, highways, legislative and executive journals.

Jean Baptiste Piquette was horn in Montreal in 1781. He married Heliodore (Eleanor) Descombs dit Labadie on January 31, 1809. Piquette died in Detroit in 1813. Papers, arranged chronologically, pertain to the mercantile, estate and family transactions of members and relatives of the Piquette family of Detroit.
